 ABOUT NIKKI-LEIGH

I’m Nikki-Leigh Māhakanui Condon, a journalist from Aotearoa New Zealand specialising in human-centred storytelling. I write about people, culture, innovation and the ideas shaping our future, with a particular focus on Indigenous perspectives and the ways they influence creativity, leadership and community.

My work has been published by Air New Zealand’s Kia Ora magazine and Te Karaka, where I’ve profiled conservationists, cultural leaders, entrepreneurs, artists and changemakers across a wide range of sectors. I’m drawn to stories that explore identity, aspiration and impact — the moments where personal experience meets broader social or cultural change.

I believe storytelling has the power to provoke conversation, deepen understanding and shift perspectives. Whether I’m writing about emerging tourism ventures, creative practice, environmental leadership or global movements, my aim is always the same: to uncover the human story behind the headline and share it with clarity and heart.

I’m available for feature writing, profiles, interviews and international commissions.
